Lokon Mountain in Tomohon City, North Sulawesi Province

Also, it is true tourists may spend some stamina for trekking. This tiredness is nothing when compared to the beautiful landscapes of the site, though. Due to the volcanic ash, the land becomes so fertile so many plants and trees grow abundantly there. These become a perfect panorama that trekkers can enjoy while heading to the top of the mountain.
Despite the long trekking route, the difficulty level is considered easy. In fact, the locals have built a pathway located near to the lava lines. From that spot, it takes about 40 minutes to get to the checkpoint. As for the distance, it is 600 meters. Once approaching the crater, tourists may smell a strong sulfuric odor right away. Be careful not to get too close to the crater!

How to Get There
From Manado City, tourists can directly head to Lokon Mountain by local transportation service. For the information, the distance is 24.3 km. That means the trip may take about 48 minutes. The prime destination is North Tomohon Sub-District, actually. Next, tourists should reach Kayawu Village where the checkpoint resides. Well, tourists can decide either to climb to the crater or not from that spot. Also, the whole trip becomes faster if they take Raya Manado Tomohon Street.
